Organisations increasingly form value constellations that together offer more complete solutions to their customers, inviting customers and partners to co-create innovation. Organisations therefore try to create service platforms that attract customers and a variety of contributors, such as partners, resellers, and commentators, which add new services and enhance the value of the overall offering, enabling the emergence of a service ecosystem. However, designing service platforms for the emergence of service ecosystems is still an unexplored area. ESR9 will explore new methods for designing service platforms for service ecosystems, with an application to EDP Comercial (Portugal) and the energy service ecosystem. ESR9 will be employed and enrol in a PhD in University of Porto (Portugal), co-advised by Politecnico di Milano (Italy). ESR9 will undertake a secondment in University of Porto to explore different approaches to the design of service ecosystems, and a secondment in a service design agency to explore how new smart technologies can enable the creation of new services for the energy utility ecosystem.
